100 FLOWERS
about
I sorted 100 flowers into ten categories based on what I think are the significant phases/stages that makeup life.
process
1. I came up with a list of objects that I wanted to draw for my 100 things such as flowers, food, and trees. I decided on flowers.
2. Before beginning my drawings, I thought about how I would categorize the flowers. My idea was to sort the flowers into groups that represent each year of my life.
3. I began to free-hand the drawings but soon realized how much time and difficulty it took. I didn't have a lightboard so I used my computer as one and started tracing instead. I decided to draw the flowers from different angles to have some variety when looking at the flowers.
4. After about 25 drawings I realized that the same themes were coming up for each year; the categories were becoming redundant. I took a step back to rethink the categories I originally chose.
5. Instead of sorting the flowers based on a specific year of my life, I sorted them into stages that generally make up life.
MATERIALS
I used only pencil in my drawings. After doing a light outline of the flower, I shaded them in, I outlined the flower darker as my final step.
SORTING THE FLOWERS
I sorted the flowers based on what I found online. For example, I googled "flowers that symbolize innocence" and found websites listing the meanings of different flowers. I based the sorting of the flowers on what I found online, but the categories I chose are based on ones I personally relate to.
task
These 100 flowers are categorized into ten different groups based on what I personally perceive to be the main stages of life.

If you had to choose ten categories that make up and describe your own personal life, what would they be?
